Project Overview
Reworked the floor plan of a Greenville master bathroom — removing a non-load-bearing wall and unused closet space, relocating the toilet and shower, expanding the walk-in shower with full Schluter waterproofing, installing a freestanding soaking tub, and prepping for a future frameless glass enclosure. Tile, electrical, drywall, lighting, and paint all updated.
The Challenge
The original bathroom was a chopped-up mid-2000s layout with a garden tub crammed into a corner, a small enclosed shower, and dead closet space that boxed in the floor plan. Amy wanted a luxury open layout with a freestanding tub as the focal point, a much larger walk-in shower, and wiring for modern touches like a wall-mounted TV and LED mirrors — without losing functionality.
Our Solution
We removed the existing non-load-bearing wall, garden tub, closet space, flooring, fixtures, and wall finishes; framed new walls to support the revised layout; and built 50-inch knee walls with integrated ledge rails ready for a future custom frameless glass enclosure. We relocated the toilet and shower to improve flow, then constructed a roughly 60×72-inch custom walk-in shower with a full Schluter waterproofing system on the walls and base and Ditra underlayment where required. All customer-supplied finishes were installed: wall tile, shower floor tile, bathroom floor tile, freestanding tub with tub filler, vanity, sinks, faucets, toilet, lighting, mirrors, and paint. Electrical scope included rough wiring for shower lighting, water closet lighting, a wall-mounted TV, LED mirrors, and updated GFCI outlets. Dust barriers and floor runners protected the rest of the home throughout the build.

Frequently Asked Questions
What changed in the layout?
We relocated the toilet and shower, removed unused closet space, and reoriented the tub area to open the floor plan. The freestanding tub became the focal point with the walk-in shower expanded behind it.
Was the glass enclosure included?
The shower was framed and prepped for a future custom frameless glass enclosure — we built 50-inch knee walls with integrated ledge rails so the glass installer can drop the panels straight in. The homeowner sourced the glass separately, which is common for custom frameless work.
Why is this a strong renovation example?
It combines almost everything in a high-end bathroom: layout reconfiguration, custom walk-in shower with Schluter waterproofing, freestanding tub, LED mirrors, smart electrical, and full tile. If you're planning a similar project in Greenville, this is the scope you're looking at.
