Project Overview

Replaced 22 original aluminum single-pane windows and a worn sliding patio door on a Simpsonville two-story with Energy Star Low-E double-pane vinyl windows and a new fiberglass French patio door — finished in three days on-site with full insulation, flashing, and trim integration.

The Challenge

The home's original 1995 aluminum windows had failed seals, chronic condensation in winter, hot spots near every south-facing window in summer, and audible road noise from the cul-de-sac feeder street. The sliding patio door had jumped its track and was a security concern. The homeowners wanted a comprehensive fix without re-siding the house.

Our Solution

We did insert (pocket) replacements on the 22 windows where the existing frames were sound, with new pan flashing and butyl seal integration at every opening. Double-pane vinyl windows with Low-E366 coatings, argon fill, and warm-edge spacers — Energy Star certified for the Southeast climate zone. The patio opening was upsized slightly for a fiberglass inswing French door with full sidelights, giving the homeowners a proper view to the back yard and a secure deadbolt entry. New interior and exterior trim throughout, painted to match existing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much did this lower the homeowners' power bill?

Their first summer in the new windows came in about $55/month lower on cooling than the same months the year before — a meaningful improvement, though the bigger value was no more hot spots and no more winter condensation pooling on the sills.

How long did the install take?

Three days on-site for 22 windows plus the patio door. We worked room-by-room with drop cloths and dust containment, and the homeowners stayed in the house throughout.

Why insert replacement and not full-frame?

The existing window frames were sound — no rot, good flashing underneath, square openings. Insert replacement keeps the existing frames and saves $200–$400 per window over full-frame. We always inspect each opening individually and would have flagged any that needed full-frame replacement instead.
